The Victoria Park Vision

Recently, Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner released a draft Victroia Park Vision to the Brisbane community. This vision details the Brisbane City Council’s plans to convert the 18-hole golf course at Victoria Park into an iconic public parkland with something for everybody.

Directors of Victoria Park have been working with BCC since 1999 to operate all current Victoria Park facilities and are committed to further developing the destination for years to come. The future Victoria Park will be more than double the size of the City Botanic Gardens and protect almost 45 hectares of green space. This means more opportunities to enjoy Brisbane’s beautiful climate and connect with family and friends in the places that make our city great.

Victoria Park will become a natural retreat, an urban park for adventure, discovery and reconnection.

The ‘Cultural Hub’ will celebrate Brisbane’s heritage and natural environment. The park will feature native bushland pockets and waterholes where visitors can enjoy kayaking and swimming lagoons.

The architecture will mimic the landscape with suspended canopy walks and a tree house so visitors can connect with nature, day and night.

This prime inner-city location will include a community garden, giving visitors more to see and do.
It will be culturally authentic, celebrating the many layers of human contact with the landscape and the site’s significance to Aboriginal people.

The recent draft released by Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner includes:

  • A Cultural Hub
  • Mountain bike and walking tracks
  • High ropes course
  • Vegetable gardens
  • 1.4-hectare lake
  • Boat house and kayaking hire
  • Skate park
  • Tennis and cricket courts
  • Children’s water parks
  • Playgrounds
  • A canopy walk
  • A tree house feature
  • New function facilities
  • Entertainment spaces
  • A new golf skills practise area

The Brisbane city council have confirmed that the Victoria Park Function Centre, Bistro, driving range, golf learning cenre and putt-putt course are remaining in the masterplan due to their popularity.

We encourage you to share your thoughts on the new Victoria Park with the Brisbane City Council. Public consultation is open until 28 April 2020. Click here to see more.
